Fabulous career opportunity with this leading Destination Management Company - work in the business development team to assist with the preparation and planning of incoming group event and incentive programmes to the UK. Fantastic development opportunity for a creative and logistically orientated event ‘grower’!

The Agency:
This friendly and long established leading London-based Destination Management Company (DMC), handle Corporate and Association groups visiting the UK from overseas, primarily to attend meetings and for incentive travel programmes. With offices in London and Edinburgh, the company prides itself in superb customer service, creative product design and maintaining their trusted role as a leader in the international Destination Management community.

Role:
They are looking for a bright and proactive new recruit to join the Bus Dev and Sales team as Programme Design and Planner to assist with the preparation and planning of incoming group programmes to the UK. Working as part of a team, the successful candidate will learn about planning events, pricing and budget control, proposals, sightseeing and logistics for corporate group travel programmes in the UK. A knowledge or enthusiasm for London and Great Britain as a destination is helpful along with the confidence to build relationships with clients and suppliers alike. The ideal candidate will be someone who wishes to learn or develop a role in the incoming M.I.C.E industry.

Role specific responsibilities:

  • Pre-planning of detailed group event and travel programmes at the initial stages of the enquiry
  • Personal skills and confidence to promote the destination and the company, and in time develop client relationships.
  • Assistance with the research of new attractions, venues and services to share findings with the team
  • Client correspondence for prospective programmes (until contract stages) with support
  • Liaison with suppliers including sourcing availability, negotiation of rates and terms, confirmation of bookings, for guides/coaches/venues and services, etc
  • Assistance with the maintenance of the internal databases (including supplier information, costs, photographs & description used in the company’s proposals)
  • Assist with the content management of the website; social media and in-house registration
  • Assist with the setting up of arrangements & appointments for site inspections & overseas sales trips
  • Work with Directors and Project Directors on following-up prospective business and post sales trip activity
  • Occasional assistance with on-site programme operation and occasional file management for small programmes and VIPs requiring little (if any) on-site operation.
  • General representation of the company with local industry suppliers/colleagues and attendance at industry events and familiarisations to expand knowledge

You: We are looking for someone who is looking to really develop and grow their career in this aspect of events – highly organized, able to write copy, and a practical and creative brain to bring to designing and planning group event programmes. You’ll need good research skills, a good mix of the practical and the creative, and great attention to detail to ensure all elements of client proposals are correct and on point! You may already have some proven event or travel industry experience, or be an Events Grad looking to join a company to grow and develop with. You will need to bring:

  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Ability to write copy & descriptions
  • Excellent computer literacy and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office & social platforms
  • Attention to detail
  • The ability to work as part of a team – natural people person – able to develop client and supplier relationships with customer service and surpassing expectations as core motivators
  • Support the management of the costings, supplier and customer databases
  • An ability to cope with deadlines, remain enthusiastic during challenging times and with a hard-working attitude
  • A sense of humour.
  • Common sense and a methodical yet creative mind
  • Some previous work experience is preferable but not essential.
  • Some experience in an administrative or face to face role would be an advantage
  • Some knowledge of Britain and in particular the locations, hotels and venues of London is an advantage but not essential.
  • Languages useful but not essential
