This is an opportunity to join our friendly evening team at Central Saint Martins (CSM) Library.
Our busy library is popular with our students, and being located over three floors of a heritage building overlooking Granary Square near Kings Cross and St Pancras stations, this is an exciting location to work in.
As a member of the Library Services team, you will contribute to the delivery and development of high-quality and student-focused library services which support the academic activities of the University.
You will participate in both front-line and administrative duties, often working collaboratively.
You will assist users with initial information enquiries in person and online using our live chat service ASK. This includes helping with the use of Library materials, dealing with account queries, and supporting students with general-purpose software. You will provide support for self-issue systems, IT, and printing.
Working within a small team, you will participate in stock-related duties such as retrieving and circulating items and help to maintain and care for our collections as needed.
You will also keep the space in good order in accordance with best health and safety practices and security guidelines.
The post is term-time only, for up to 33 weeks per year equating to 0.44 FTE.
You will be working Monday to Friday: 18.00 to 22.15 pm (4.25 hours per day).
During the academic year, UAL libraries are open 31 weeks of the year; the remaining hours of the 33-week contract are used for staff training and development, usually in the daytime, and by arrangement with your line manager.
The role is based at CSM, but you might occasionally be required to work at any of the other UAL libraries.
About you
You will have relevant experience in a library or customer service environment, and formal training to post-16 level.
You will be able to work flexibly within a team, providing support and assistance and possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate information and ideas clearly, and in an inclusive manner.
You will be able to work independently and organise your own work and be IT literate including the use of hardware such as printers.
