EV Consultant - BDM - EV Charge - CPO - Strategy and Commercial Lead - Program Strategies

Marshall Wolfe is proud to be supporting a global technology company in their search for a Business Development Manager and Strategy and Commercial Lead for an initial 8 month contract. The role is hybrid, with 3 days or more in their London office. The rate is flexible, from 600+ per day (inside IR35). This role would suit an individual with previous experience with EV charging in a CPO background.

The post holder will be responsible for winning contracts with councils and deploying sites in that council.

Responsibilities:

  1. Create a pipeline of business with Local Authorities from demand generation through to winning contracts - proposition & relationship development, framework application, licence agreements & LA concession bid writing.
  2. Work with Data Science to 1) assess and prioritise LAs and sites using the data model and organise remote surveys to validate 2) continually refine and enhance the data model with additional learnings.
  3. Define Heads of Terms, Commercials, and Contracts on LA and other partnerships, liaising with appropriate teams.
  4. Lead the go-to-market strategy incorporating partnership, investor, M&A and alternative revenue opportunities.
  5. Liaise with the Deployment Team for warm handover of sites to stand up.
  6. Support continuous improvement of the site selection model and optimised ChargePoint roll-out plan.
  7. Take key learnings from pilot to 1) feed in key assumptions to improve the commercial model sophistication & accuracy where appropriate & 2) identify ways to improve the NPV of the venture.
  8. Become the channel lead for colleagues engaging regularly with Local Authorities for coordination.
  9. Lead investment processes, due diligence activity, internal and external fund raising.

Requirements:

Business Development Manager:

  1. Tenure in Business Development roles that have involved specific experience in partner development and/or new sales of new products in new markets or to new customers.
  2. Experience extends to selling into the public sector, ideally Local Authorities/Councils.
  3. Demonstrable experience in the end to end of Business Development - bids, tender writing, contract negotiations, legal agreements.
  4. Minimum two years experience of the UK EV Charging market.

Strategy and Commercial Lead:

  1. 2-4 years experience as a strategy consultant in a management consultancy, corporate or business strategy team or as an Analyst/Associate in Venture Capital/Private Equity/Investment Banking.
  2. 2-4 years experience in a commercial/commercial finance role in a corporate or start-up.
  3. Demonstrable hands-on experience building valuation models & business cases from scratch.
  4. At least 2 years knowledge of the UK EV charging market having worked in a Chargepoint Operator (ideal) or management consultancy/finance advisory role.
  5. M&A and/or investment experience particularly Due Diligence, Commercial Due Diligence, transaction experience, equity raising (Seed, Series A, B).
