Position Overview:

CCI is hiring a quantitative analyst in London working across the weather and power groups. Candidates should have significant experience conducting statistical analysis of large power or weather datasets. This is an excellent opportunity to collaborate closely with CCI’s trading teams and to build out CCI’s renewable analytical research platform in an entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop processes to report numeric weather, power and renewable models for Europe.
  • Conduct statistical analysis to provide expected probability distribution of weather, power and renewable outcomes.
  • Research seasonal forecasting, ocean forecasting and climate prediction, manage the weather and climate data process and develop firm’s weather analytic tools.
  • Be a key contributor to efforts to
    • design, develop and continuously improve both fundamental supply and demand, and power pricing models, that support the desk’s trading decisions
    • support and improve the power desk’s extensive set of proprietary analytical tools
    • integrate new models within the power desk’s existing computer modeling infrastructure
  • Report on research and incorporate promising results into process and analytics.

Experience/Education:

  • Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Atmospheric Sciences with Computing, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or related field of study is essential.
  • High level of statistical analysis, ability to work with large complex data sets.
  • Prior experience utilising statistical software is required.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Essential expertise in Python, R, and/or Matlab.
