I'm working with a 14-19 age school in MediaCity to find them a Permanent Estates Officer.
The school is a very modern school with cutting edge facilities, providing a digital education for students.
As Estates Officer you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth, day-to-day running of the academy. This hands-on, customer-focused position is vital for keeping their cutting-edge facilities in excellent condition, directly enhancing the education of students.

Important Details:
- Actual salary is £23,893 - £29,269
- All year round.
- 37 hours a week, approx. 08:00- 16:00.
- Some flexibility on hours e.g., around the school run.

The School and Team:
- Working independently and reporting to the regional team, who visit site once a week.
- Part of the school support team.

Duties of the Estates Officer:
- Look after buildings and grounds: Manage repairs, decorating, and testing across the Estates Cluster.
- Get hands-on: Move heavy stuff, maintain the grounds, and set up for events.
- Keep it tidy: Make sure tests are logged, bins are emptied, and the site stays litter-free.
- Be the keyholder: Handle security tasks, like opening and closing daily, and respond to emergency calls.
- Report back: Update the Estates Cluster Supervisor on lettings, planning, and maintenance.
- Keep equipment in shape: Change lamps and sync clocks when needed.
- Handle requests: Address academy requests professionally and log outcomes with the Estates Cluster Supervisor.
- Manage deliveries: Ensure items are delivered and placed correctly.
- Work safely: Follow safe work practices, conduct risk assessments, and guide contractors as directed by the Estates Cluster Supervisor.
- Monitor security: Keep an eye on site security, including CCTV and safeguarding, and report any issues.
- Stay compliant: Follow health and safety regulations and report any issues right away.
- Coordinate with contractors: Work with external cleaning, catering, and grounds management services.
- Help out other academies: Support other academies in the cluster as needed.
- Oversee lettings: Set up, and supervise events, making sure everyone is safe and follows the rules.
- Team player: Work with the Estates Cluster Supervisor and academy leaders to deliver top-notch service.
The Estates Officer Must Have/Be:
- GCSE or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience: Managing premises, maintenance, and cleaning.
- DIY pro: Repairs across various trades with solid DIY skills.
- Security savvy: Responsible for keeping the building secure and know your security systems.
- Time management: How to juggle tasks and prioritise to keep customers happy.
- Physical fitness: Lift and carry items, follow equipment instructions, and stick to safety guidelines.
- Team player: Work well with others but can also handle things on your own and meet deadlines.
- Flexible: Open to working different hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Proactive: Strong initiative, great customer care skills, and a positive, 'can-do' attitude.
- Health and safety: Perform checks, implement fixes, and keep everything documented.
An Advantage but not Essential:
- Health and safety know-how: A good grasp of H&S.
- Education background: Experience in an educational setting.
- Equipment savvy: Comfortable using commercial maintenance tools.
- Trade training: Training in a relevant trade or profession, like joinery, painting and decorating, or plumbing.
This role is subject to an enhanced child workforce DBS.
