Job description

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team as our Electrical Engineering Manager and ensure that our Trust is electrically safe and sound for our patients, staff and visitors.

If successful, you will work in collaboration with the Estates Operations Manager to ensure that all planned and reactive maintenance carried out by the Department is appropriately prioritised and that the department's reactive, planned and overdue work performance meets the KPI targets agreed with the Trust's Board of Directors.

You will be a key to communicating complex technical and safety advice effectively with a wide range of groups including department colleagues, other Trust staff groups, contractors, patients and the general public, particularly in a potential emergency situation.

Main duties of the job

As our Electrical Engineering Manager, you will be required to:

  • Carry out technical review meetings of specialist engineering contractors to monitor their service delivery to ensure that they are meeting their agreed contractual performance standards and are providing value for money (VFM).
  • Carry out the duties of the Authorised Person (AP) i.e. Medical Gas Systems and the issue of permits to work in accordance with and defined in HTM 02.
  • Carry out the duties of the Authorised Person (AP) for Low/High Voltage (LV/HV) electrical safety systems and issue permits to work in accordance with and defined in HTM 06.
  • Participate in the On-Call rota for Estates Managers, providing advice or on-site attendance as necessary.
