KMK are delighted to be working with a super successful and rewarding non-for-profit organisation who specialise within maritime and oil spillage worldwide. Working within a close knit and social company of circa 50 ppl, based in a great City location, they boast over 14,000 members and have responded to 850 incidents globally.
Now with a real appetite to enhance their ESG platform, they have a brand-new role for someone to come in as a ESG / Sustainability Project Coordinator to lead on the project roll out and framework.
They require someone with previous work experience in the ESG/sustainability field, either in a corporate setting, as a consultant or working for an NGO. You will have ability to take a proactive approach to projects, generating ideas and acting as a ‘thought leader’. You must also be able to engage with various internal stakeholders, and demonstrative a passion for ESG/sustainability. Strong analytical, Excel and reporting skills also required, and a relative degree would be beneficial.
Reporting into their MD within a newly created stand-alone role, responsibilities to include:
- Lead the development of an ESG framework to be used by the organisation to start measuring, quantifying and eventually reporting on its ESG practices.
- Carry out a materiality assessment, identifying ESG assessment topics.
- Liaising with various internal departments (e.g. People & Culture, Finance, Information & Communications, Office Managers) to understand current policies and potential data sources for ESG self-assessment.
- Begin the process of gathering relevant data, ensuring appropriate storage, security and protections are in place.
- Carry out a mapping exercise of existing ESG/sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g. GRI, CDP, Global Compact, SDGs) to determine which frameworks and indicators may or may not be relevant.
- Delivery of internal communications/training on ESG, aiming to increase engagement across the organisation. Maintaining a regular presence and establishing oneself as a ‘go-to’ contact for ESG related questions.
- Carry out a review of sustainability reports of other companies to understand approaches taken and identifying those with potential synergy.
- Research into ESG industry trends (e.g. carbon offsetting) and what options may be available to mitigate impacts, once identified and quantified.
- Review of applicable legislation and potential future reporting requirements for the shipping industry.
- Accompanying administrative/project related tasks as required.
