Job description

KEY TASKS

  • Leading by example & championing EHS on a day-to-day basis
  • Promoting a safe & healthy work environment
  • Serving as the point of contact for all EHS matters & advising those with delegated EHS responsibilities
  • Taking a pragmatic approach to EHS challenges solutions
  • Preparing, reviewing & updating internal & external EHS policies & documentation in consultation with relevant personnel (eg safe operating procedures, risk assessments, work permits)
  • Confidentially coordinating the health surveillance programme, analysing reports
  • Leading incident investigations in conjunction with responsible persons
  • Producing and owning content for a regular IES EHS Bulletin
  • Overseeing vehicle & driver fleet management, ensuring full compliance
  • Administering existing safety accreditation, progressing to ISO 14001 & 45001
  • Managing internal & external training, liaising with Line Managers, leading monthly Training Meetings, monitoring quality
  • Overseeing DSE, PPE & first aid management, consulting on specific concerns, carrying out assessments
  • Developing and coordinating environmental management systems & arrangements
  • Serving as Chief Fire Marshal, maintaining the fire risk assessment, overseeing fire safety checks, co-ordinating activities of the Fire Marshal Team & leading periodic Fire Marshal Meetings
  • Undertaking regular premises inspections, supporting department leads with remedial actions
  • Ensuring the Company meets its statutory requirements as regards environment, health, safety & welfare
  • Ensuring all periodic safety inspections, maintenance & testing is undertaken at appropriate intervals by internal & external providers
  • Leading periodic EHS Committee Meetings, ensuring timely completion of agreed actions
  • Keeping up to date with industry and legislative changes and advising Senior Management of how IES needs to comply with new or updated legislation, implementing agreed changes and ensuring compliance
  • Maintaining the central accident book, recording and reporting all incidents, monitoring, investigating and ensuring that appropriate remedial action is taken in all cases
  • May be required to complete other business activities on behalf of the Company from time to time in line with skills, competencies and experience

Requirements

  • NEBOSH General Certificate essential; NEBOSH National Diploma preferred (or equivalents)
  • Experience in a manufacturing, semiconductor, engineering or warehousing environment preferred
  • Exceptional organisational skills with very high attention to detail & strict confidentiality
  • Ability to multi-task, anticipate and respond effectively to changing priorities
  • Flexible, conscientious attitude to work
  • High standard of written & verbal communication, with a confident & professional phone manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working autonomously
  • IT literate, with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Additional hours, including weekend availability (on call), may be necessary from time to time when required to suit business needs.

Remuneration & Benefits

Salary/Rate: Negotiable and dependent on experience
Basic Hours: Monday to Friday, 0900-1700hrs
