Environmental Health Officer Standards

Dorset Council
Dorchester
GBP 10,000 - 40,000
Job description
About the role

We are hiring! We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health Officer working in our Housing Standards Team. Dorset is now one of the biggest local authorities in the country, in a beautiful part of Southwest England.

Whether you're an experienced Environmental Health Officer or recently graduated, the role in our Housing Standards Team will enable you to take your career to the next level, whatever you want that to be.

You'll get the chance to work on a wide range of private sector housing topics; from HMO's to HHSRS, Empty Homes to Park Homes. We have a track record of innovative service delivery, partnership working, digital solutions, project work and sensible, risk-based enforcement.

On-the-job support, training, and other opportunities mean you will develop personally and professionally, whether that means expanding your existing experience or completing your professional logbook towards EHORB registration and beyond.

Minimum Requirements

You will have a Degree / MSC or Diploma in Environmental Health. You may have previous experience of working in an enforcement environment or housing-related experience. We are also keen to hear from those starting out in their career, who have recently graduated from CIEH accredited Environmental Health Degree/MSC courses this summer.

You will be customer-focused, with a practical mind and enjoy working within a small team of people delivering a wide range of different enforcement services.

Working for Dorset Council

This is a unique opportunity to join a new council in Dorset - home to the spectacular Jurassic Coast and thriving market towns and villages with a strong sense of community and identity.

You will have the opportunity to build your career in a modern, flexible and inclusive organization, and this is an exciting time to join - at the start of our journey together.

For more information about our new council visit www.DorsetCouncil.gov.uk/about.

Dorset Council provides a framework to explain the behaviours expected from everyone who works, or volunteers, for Dorset Council regardless of their role or grade within the organization. The behaviours will form part of the selection process, where you will be asked to evidence when you have demonstrated them.
