An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Health Officer to be appointed to a post within Environment, Housing & Infrastructure based at Renfrewshire House, Cotton Street, Paisley. The posts will be placed within both the Business Regulation Team/Public Health Team within Public Protection.
You will undertake a full range of Environmental Health duties including Food Law inspections, Occupational Health and Safety, Infectious Disease, Public Health, Noise Control, Air Quality, Statutory Nuisance, Housing, Water Quality and Licensing.
You must be highly motivated, enthusiastic and be able to work as part of a team as well as working on your own initiative with minimum supervision. You must also be able to deal with the public and have effective communication, reporting and IT skills.
You must hold a Degree in Environmental Health and the Diploma in Environmental Health issued by the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (or equivalent qualifications) or working towards obtaining the Diploma in Environmental Health issued by the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland.
Consideration will be given to candidates who are currently undertaking their Diploma/training in Environmental Health and may sit their professional exam in either 2024 or March 2025.
It is essential you have relevant experience within an Environmental Health Service, including food law, health and Safety and Public Health enforcement, thorough knowledge of Environmental Health procedures and practices and current Driving Licence.
You will require to participate in Public Protection Stand by Service therefore, you must be able to work flexibly.
If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post.
