Environmental Health Officer (Food Safety)
Location:West Midlands
Start Date:October/November 2024
Rate:£45 per hour (umbrella, Inside IR35)
Hours:Full time, 37 hours per week
Duration:Until end of March 2025

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Health Officer (Food Safety) to join their team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the protection of public health by ensuring food safety standards are maintained across the Local Authority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out inspections, investigations, and risk assessments of food premises within the local authority area
  • Enforcing compliance with food hygiene legislation and industry best practices to protect public health
  • Providing guidance and support to food business operators on food safety regulations and compliance requirements
  • Investigating food safety complaints and food-borne illness outbreaks and taking necessary enforcement action when required
  • Preparing detailed reports and maintaining accurate records of inspections and outcomes

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent, with EHRB/CIEH Registration (or equivalent)
  • Significant experience in food safety enforcement, including conducting inspections and risk assessments in food premises – Local Authority desired
  • In-depth knowledge of current food safety legislation and enforcement practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, manage workload efficiently, and handle complex cases
