We deliver Environmental Health alongside our Public Health partners which enables greater opportunities and outcomes and are looking to recruit two Environmental Health Officers within the Housing and Environmental Protection Team.
At Swindon we pride ourselves on developing staff to their highest potential and as an Environmental Health Officer within the team, you will be part of this same investment.
You will be part of a successful and mutually supportive team operating across Housing and Environmental Protection, carrying a varied and engaging case-load that spreads across your specialist fields. You will lead on prosecutions, warrants of entry, seizures and works in default.
As an Environmental Health Officer you will have opportunities to provide training and leadership to other staff members and will work with technical officers to enable the best outcomes for Swindon residents.
Hybrid working is encouraged and you will be working flexibly on the district completing visits, at home as well as in the office to enable the best outcomes as part of a holistic and multi-disciplinary team providing advice, enablement, and enforcement as part of a wider public health delivery agenda.
It is essential that you have a degree in Environmental Health, & EHORB registration or equivalent, and you will be able to demonstrate a broad technical background across a range of relevant Environmental Health disciplines. Experience in Prosecutions, imposing Civil penalties and other enforcement experience is beneficial.
You will possess excellent people skills allied with the proven ability to listen, explain, negotiate and influence. You will have a track record of good performance in a busy environment and demonstrate leadership skills.
A full and valid driving Licence and ability to travel throughout the Borough will be required.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act - for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
