My client is seeking a dedicated Environmental Health Officer to join its Private Sector Housing Team.
In this role, you'll play an essential part in ensuring a safe, clean, and compliant environment for all businesses and visitors.
The role involves responding to a variety of residential complaints and ensuring effective resolution through on-site assessments and appropriate follow-up actions.
The role will primarily be conducted in-office to facilitate site visits and efficient response management. There is flexibility for remote work 1-2 days per week for paperwork and documentation tasks.
The Role
- Addressing incoming residential complaints related to issues such as damp, mould, overcrowding, and general housing conditions.
- Organizing and conducting property visits to carry out health and safety assessments.
- Preparing and issuing closing letters or formal notices to communicate findings and required actions.
- Applying housing legislation effectively to manage and resolve cases.
- Collaborating with stakeholders, including tenants and landlords, to achieve compliance.
- Supporting junior staff members by sharing knowledge and expertise.
The Ideal Candidate
- HHSRS Certificate is essential.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role, dealing with private sector housing issues.
- Strong working knowledge of key housing legislation and its application.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload.
- Environmental Health Degree.
- Experience issuing formal housing-related notices.
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior team members.
