Deal with service requests, including complaints in a timely manner, and take appropriate follow up action.
Carry out inspections of properties, identify deficiencies and assess hazards to health and safety.
Use enforcement powers as authorised including service of notices, simple cautions, civil penalty notices and prosecutions.
Secure improvements to standards and management in private rented housing.
Deal with property licence applications.
Provide expert advice to landlords, agents, tenants and other relevant people.
Investigate unlicensed HMOs and other privately rented properties covered by either mandatory licensing or the additional and selective licensing schemes.
Requirements (HCC)
A detailed specialist knowledge of the legislation relating to the activities of the Environmental Regulation Section and a knowledge and understanding of the legislation applicable to Health & Safety, Food Safety, Infectious Disease Control and Housing, including Regulations, Statutory Instruments, Technical Guidance, Codes of Practice, Industry Guides, Government Circulars, British Standards.
Broad Knowledge & Legal Knowledge Of Environmental Health Enforcement Matters Including Domestic Noise Control, Nuisance.
Degree/diploma In Environmental Health Or Equivalent.
Good working knowledge of environmental law including a sound understanding of public health.
Relevant Environmental protection working experience: dealing with noise, nuisance (dust, odour, smoke).
Qualified Environmental Health Officer or equivalent in EP work.

Initial 3-6 month ongoing contract PAYE by Umbrella Mon - Fri, 9am to 5pm
