The Team
The ESG Coordinator role will join the Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability team in Cambridge who ensure compliance with corporate sustainability directives. This role operates at Group level within the TechOps and Quality Function, as part of a small, high-performing team dedicated to driving and coordinating sustainability initiatives across the organisation.
Role and Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the role holder is to collaborate closely with various functions within the business to produce accurate and high-quality sustainability reports and disclosures. This critical work will ensure that both internal and external stakeholders gain a clear understanding of the organisation’s material sustainability topics, the progress made in these areas, and the challenges being addressed. Main responsibilities for the role will include:
Sustainability reporting and disclosure:
- Lead the project management and production of high-quality sustainability reports and ESG / Climate-related disclosures in accordance with relevant frameworks.
- Ensure robust, timely auditable, and transparent reporting processes are in place and effectively implemented.
- Drive the continuous improvement of reporting methodologies and data quality.
Data collection and management:
- Coordinate the collection of high-quality sustainability data from various internal functions (e.g. finance, operations, HR etc.) and external suppliers.
- Develop and maintain robust data management systems to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and accessibility.
- Analyse and interpret sustainability data to identify key trends, risks, and opportunities.
ESG Content Development & Communication:
- Produce and collate engaging ESG content, including presentations, infographics, and other communication materials, to effectively communicate sustainability performance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure the accuracy, visibility, and impact of ESG communications.
Strategic Reporting & Governance:
- Support the development and implementation of the organisation’s ESG strategy and roadmap.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of ESG-related policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with relevant ESG regulations and industry best practices.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s level Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management / Sustainability or related field - will consider graduates who are looking to develop in this field.
- Background in use of EcoVadis or NHS Evergreen questionnaires would be beneficial.
- Auditor ISO 14001:2015 EMS qualified would be ideal but not essential.
- REnvP / PIEMA or equivalent OR MIEMA / CEnv or working towards would be ideal.
- Direct experience within the pharmaceutical / biotech manufacturing sector or other large, complex organisations with significant greenhouse gas emissions would be advantageous.
- Progressive experience in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) or Sustainability.
- Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a strong focus on project delivery.
- Demonstrated success in implementing and managing ESG programs and initiatives.
- Deep understanding of ESG principles, frameworks, and reporting standards (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD, SDGs, CSRD, ESOS, SECR etc.).
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to analyse complex data, identify trends, and generate actionable insights.
- Proficiency in data management tools and techniques.
- Experience with project management methodologies (e.g. Agile / Waterfall) and tools.
- Good self-starter, that can identify where continuous improvement would add value to the business.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences (internal and external).
- Has an advance working knowledge of Environmental management, and is interested in developing their skill set further whilst on the job.
- Has a fluent understanding of Sustainability Development Goals and Global Reporting Initiatives and how they translate into everyday business.
