Aegon Asset Management is a leading global investor, our employees work from 13 locations across Europe, the Americas and Asia. We advise on assets for a global client base of pension plans, public funds, insurance companies, banks, wealth managers, family offices and foundations. We share a common belief in fundamental, research-driven active management, underpinned by effective risk management and a commitment to responsible investment.

Our people are our greatest asset, and we want Aegon Asset Management to be a place where they can bring their authentic self to work and do all they can to deliver on our strategic promises to our customers.

We help people live their best lives. We help them with the big stuff, for the moments that matter.

We are now looking for an Enterprise Data Architect to join us in Edinburgh who will lead the architecture and design of data services and assist our organisation with helping to define and support wider data programmes, as well as coming up with innovative data solutions to fulfil the technical business needs and wider adoption of data analytics. You will act as a key enabler in the digital transformation of the company, collaborating with the CTO Management Teams and key stakeholders involved in forming and delivering our digital, data and integration technologies strategies.

This is a role where you will support key business initiatives helping leaders visualise both the current state, target state and roadmaps for data and integration capabilities. You will understand how to monetise and operationalise the delivery of new technologies by applying existing, new, and emerging technical capabilities, including AI to new and evolving business and operating models.

The Enterprise Data Architect reports to the Head of IT Strategy and Architecture.

You will also:

  1. In collaboration with the CTO Management Team, shape and validate our organisation's technical data vision and put plans and roadmaps in place to deliver new capabilities.
  2. Define strategies and methodologies to address the constant evolution of our Data Platform, by analysing existing capabilities and ensuring the platform remains at the heart of our organisation.
  3. Translate business requirements into data capabilities, including analytics, databases, data warehouses, integration technologies and data streams.
  4. Create the underpinning technical capabilities to ensure data accuracy and accessibility.
  5. Analyse, plan, and define the Enterprise Data Architecture framework, including security, reference data, metadata, master data and governance.
  6. Provide architectural support to the CTO with capability selections/designs for data workflow support systems e.g., data governance.
  7. Collaborate with other teams within the team to devise and implement data strategies, design models, and assess business needs and goals.
  8. Develop standards, patterns and reference architecture for application programming interfaces (APIs), data pipelines and integrations to retrieve/expose and transform data products.
  9. Demonstrate technology risks for the data domain, e.g. technology obsolescence, including vendor lifecycles and any required change initiatives to be included within the change portfolio/runway.
  10. Work closely with other IT Architects and Business Enterprise Architects to deliver solution design artifacts required to allow seamless delivery.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  1. Extensive experience in the application of architecture, enterprise roadmaps, analytics, cloud, IT strategies, innovation, SAFe, TOGAF and data integration concepts and methodologies.
  2. Recognised as a top-level expert with significant in-depth and/or breadth of expertise in the data domain and knowledge of broader related areas.
  3. Demonstrable experience with Cloud-based data and integration platform capabilities, including the implementation of data and integration platforms utilising technologies e.g. Snowflake, AWS and Azure ecosystems.
  4. Capable of applying architectural principles to our solutions, with key data requirements to help visualise and create high-level models that can be re-used in future analysis to extend and mature the Enterprise Data Architecture.
  5. Experience of planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives.
  6. Experience of data analytics, data integration technologies and using data visualisation tools.
  7. Experience of defining, through a variety of tools and techniques, data modelling and governance capabilities.
  8. Presents recommendations and solutions clearly and concisely and can focus on key points to portray the intended message or purpose.
  9. IT Leadership, IT Architecture experience and/or IT Change.
  10. Proven ability to set direction and effectively execute multiple operational initiatives, influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders.
  11. Proven track record of success in large-scale IT organisations and transformation projects.
  12. Experienced of working collaboratively with key external IT providers.
  13. Experience of the asset management or investment management industry is desired.
  14. Team player able to work effectively at all levels of an organisation with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus.

What's in it for you?

  1. A competitive salary, depending on the experience you can bring.
  2. A non-contributory pension between 9%-13%.
  3. A discretionary bonus, depending on personal and company performance.
  4. 27 days leave per year (plus bank holidays, pro-rated for part-time).

We also offer private medical cover, life assurance, critical illness cover, enhanced parental leave and a variety of lifestyle benefits to help our staff live their best lives, including retail discount vouchers, cycle2work scheme, subsidised restaurant and online GP appointments.

We serve a diverse, ever-changing world. It's tough, but we work tirelessly to leave things better than we find them. If that sounds like the sort of place you'd like to work, hit the "Apply" button.
