Job Title: Curriculum Lead - English

Location: Derby

Start Date: Immediate

Salary: £162-£223 per day

TeacherActive is working with a well-known mainstream secondary school with a strong sense of community in the Derby area, just outside the centre. The school has high aspirations and offers fantastic support to all of its staff.

The school is looking to take on a Curriculum Lead for their English department starting immediately - a permanent vacancy. The successful applicant will be working across both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including exam preparation for GCSEs. The role will be paramount in helping students achieve excellent results in the subject, whilst following and implementing the schemes of learning.

The successful Curriculum Lead will be:

1. A graduate with qualified teacher status.
2. An outstanding teacher in English, with a strong teaching record.
3. Relevant qualifications (both formal and through appropriate experience) to meet the challenge of the appointment.

Excellent in-depth knowledge of the place of the English curriculum in the development of young people and of its place within the wider curriculum. An understanding of the importance of a rigorous reading strategy to ensure students' confidence and reading fluency.
