Job description

We are seeking an experienced CNC shop floor Supervisor to lead an aerospace engineering workshop.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, experience in supervising a team, and expertise in utilising CNC machines.

Responsibilities
  1. Supervise and coordinate the activities of the workshop team to ensure smooth operations and timely completion of projects.
  2. Oversee the manufacturing and maintenance of aerospace components using CNC machines.
  3. Train, mentor, and provide guidance to workshop personnel, including CNC machinists, to optimise their performance and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  4. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in the workshop environment.
  5. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to prioritise and schedule work orders based on operational and customer requirements.
  6. Experience in managing several shop floor machinists, both skilled & semi-skilled.
  7. Must be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills.
  8. Motivate and drive workforce.
  9. Be a problem solver - investigate, advise & recommend solutions.
Qualifications
  1. Proven experience in a supervisory role within an engineering workshop, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  2. Proficiency with CNC machines, as well as familiarity with CAD/CAM software.
  3. Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage a diverse team.
  4. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and a commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive work environment.
Day-to-day
  1. As the Engineering Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the workshop.
  2. Collaborating with the team on project planning and execution.
  3. Conducting performance evaluations.
  4. Actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
  5. You will also interface with other departments to ensure seamless workflow and address any production challenges that may arise.
  6. Monitoring production flow.
  7. Maintain processes & procedures.
  8. Maximising cycle times.
  9. Keeping machines running and meeting OEE targets.
Hours

Monday to Thursday 7.30am - 4.30pm and 7.30am - 12.30pm Friday (39 hours)

Salary

Up to £24 per hour depending on experience, equating to £48,672 per annum.
