THE ROLE: In this role you will be responsible for technical oversight of the Video IP system modules, working closely with the Design and Architect Lead, and working with the global Video team to look for innovative solutions and progress them through to micro-architecture definition. You will partner closely with Product, Architects, HW & SW Engineering to translate strategy into execution, anticipate bottlenecks and drive alignment/decisions across AMD.

THE PERSON: We are looking for an experienced engineer to act as the Video system lead for our group in Cambridge and be part of the global Video architecture team. You will already have a heavy technical influence and the ability to mentor senior staff. This means you are a respected expert who is also a team player - able to coach our senior engineers through the minefield of design challenges and technical market dynamics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Work within and coordinate with a small team to analyze, implement, and optimize system blocks.
2. Collaborate with the Codec and packaging teams to ensure system requirements flow into the overall Video IP delivery.
3. Focus on building organization-wide relationships & partnerships to accelerate innovation and solve customer & business problems.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

You should have knowledge in some of the items listed below and demonstrate the ability to become quickly comfortable with the rest:

1. Video IP
2. Video codecs
3. System architecture
4. ASIC flow: design and verification; simulation, synthesis, timing closure and coverage; physical design and scripting
5. FGPA: primarily for ASIC debug and early bring-up
6. Verilog: low-level implementation and debug
7. System-C: high-level implementation and debug
8. C/C++: firmware implementation and algorithm modelling
9. Python: algorithm design and prototyping

Experience advocating for technical solutions in a collaborative team environment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related discipline anticipated.
