Job description

Engine Test Technician – Stafford
£29 ph FCSA Umbrella (This role is deemed inside IR35)
£21 paye
Longterm – 12-24 mth min
Have you Previously Operated Engine Test Beds or are highly skilled in stripping and rebuilding engines?
Would you like to work for a market leader in their field?
This is a role that could lead to progression within the business & many who have started in this role have progressed into lucrative engineering & development roles

Role:

The successful candidate will join our Engineering team responsible for test & development of a range of engines & electro-mechanical devices.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Hands-on, dynamometer-based powertrain & power system testing & development.
  • Rig and de-rig of engines to test beds.
  • Gathering of data plus compiling of technical reports to convey test results.
  • Engine control & calibration work.
  • Dyno based engine fault & performance investigation & reporting.
  • Production validation, performance, durability & development testing work.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude & skills, with a good understanding of IC engines & related systems.
  • Mandatory skills in mechanical engineering fundamentals (preferably engines), assembly techniques and mechanical skills, ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of tolerances, limits and fits.
  • Basic understanding and experience of measurement techniques using instrumentation would be advantageous.
  • Time-served in an automotive / engineering apprenticeship or Honours Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering with experience of working in a similar role / environment.
  • Working knowledge of precision dynamometer processes & experience of dyno control systems would be an advantage but training will be provided.
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines in a demanding environment and use of investigative techniques to identify and solve problems.
  • Desire to learn new technologies.
  • Good written & verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with standard office tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project etc).

Very Long term ongoing contract opportunity, (at least 12 – 24 months), likely to be longer.
Candidates from aerospace, Aircraft test beds jigs or similar testing / data collection / data logging machinery would be considered.
£29 ph (FCSA Umbrella – This role is deemed inside IR35) £21 paye.
