Job Title: Engine Builder (Temp-to-Perm)
Location: Barton, Burton Upon Trent
Rate: £17.00 per hour
Hours: 44 hours per week
(Monday-Thursday: 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, Friday: 7:00 am - 1:00 pm)
Positions Available: 3

About the Role:
Our client is seeking experienced Engine Builders to join our production team on a temp-to-perm basis. This role involves the refurbishment of engines and similar equipment for the rail, marine, and industrial sectors. If you have a strong background in engine assembly and a keen eye for detail, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strip down and rebuild mechanical components of engines in line with work instructions
  2. Work from OEM manuals and interpret assembly specifications
  3. Use measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, gauges, micrometers) to verify part conformance
  4. Ensure all Health & Safety policies are adhered to and report any safety concerns
  5. Collaborate with internal teams to meet deadlines and project requirements
  6. Complete all required documentation accurately
  7. Dispose of waste correctly and maintain a clean working environment
  8. Mentor trainees and apprentices as required
  9. Report faults, failures, and near misses promptly

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 5 years of engine building experience (time-served)
  2. Diesel engine experience is essential
  3. Experience working on trucks or with Cummins engines is highly desirable
  4. Ability to read and follow technical manuals and assembly instructions
  5. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  7. No formal qualifications required
