Energy Trader (Energy / Utilities)

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Head of Trading to bring structure, expertise, and a professional edge to the team. You’ll play a pivotal role in optimising trading operations, delivering valuable market insights, and supporting the company’s growth. • Execute trades across energy markets (electricity, gas, oil, and renewables) to optimise profits and manage risk
• Develop and implement trading strategies aligned with market conditions, regulations, and business goals
• Monitor real-time market dynamics to seize opportunities and guide trading decisions
• Conduct market research to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, sharing insights across the business
• Analyse supply-demand dynamics, pricing trends, and economic factors impacting energy markets
• Maintain risk management models to mitigate exposure and ensure compliance
• Lead and develop a high-performing, collaborative trading team to meet business growth needs
• Drive process improvements to enhance trading efficiency and operations

• 3–5 years' experience in energy trading, market analysis or a related field
• Skilled in developing and executing trading strategies to optimise profits and manage risk
• Proven ability to identify, manage, and mitigate risks from price volatility and regulatory changes
• Strong knowledge of P&L management, financial forecasting, and pricing analysis
• Proficient in trading platforms, including ETRM systems, Bloomberg and ICE
• Skilled in data analytics tools such as Python, R and Tableau
• Advanced Excel skills are essential
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline
