Overview:

A leading energy trading business in London is seeking a skilled Senior Product Controller to join its Options Desk. This critical role involves managing Profit and Loss (PnL), valuations, Independent Price Verification (IPV), and options pricing for power and gas derivatives. The ideal candidate will bring advanced technical capabilities, particularly in SQL and Python, to support data analysis and process optimization.

Responsibilities:

Profit and Loss Management:

• Produce and analyze daily PnL reports, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
• Collaborate with traders to explain PnL drivers, resolve discrepancies, and identify trends.
• Deliver detailed PnL insights and commentary to senior stakeholders.

Options Pricing and Valuation:

• Conduct options pricing using appropriate models and methodologies.
• Manage valuations for complex financial products, including options and derivatives.
• Ensure accurate inputs and assumptions in pricing models while collaborating with traders and risk teams.

Independent Price Verification (IPV):

• Perform IPV processes to validate market data and valuation accuracy.
• Address and resolve pricing discrepancies, ensuring robust controls.
• Document and communicate the rationale for valuation adjustments and reserves.

Technical Expertise and Process Optimization:

• Use SQL and Python to analyze data, automate reporting, and enhance efficiency.
• Develop tools and scripts to improve valuation, PnL reporting, and IPV processes.
• Partner with IT teams to implement system improvements and ensure data accuracy.

Stakeholder Management and Collaboration:

• Act as the interface between the options trading desk, risk, and finance teams.
• Provide regular updates and reports to senior management, highlighting key insights.
• Participate in cross-departmental initiatives to improve workflows and governance.

Requirements

• 2+ years' experience with options pricing models, derivatives valuations within the energy trading markets.
• Experience in product control, trade control or market risk within energy trading or financial derivatives.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis and automation.
• Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
• A proactive mindset and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Ability to work in London at least 3 days per week.
