Our Energy Economics team are a specialist group working alongside the Utilities & Infrastructure team. We focus on using a data-led approach to unlock constrained developments, undertake technoeconomic modelling to help with decision making and provide innovative solutions that overcome barriers to investment.

The Role:

Within the Energy Economics team, we are looking ahead to our new energy future; designing and developing services to help our clients utilise innovative technologies, capitalise on their energy systems and work towards the unstoppable shift towards net zero carbon.

We are seeking someone to support and develop our growing business sector, helping us to deliver their Net Zero energy ambitions in an economically viable way. Expertise in the electricity market and the ongoing evolution of smart systems, storage and distributed generation within built environment would be of particular benefit.

The role requires someone who is innovative and willing to work with a team of like-minded people. You’ll be drawing upon your existing experience, to improve and diversify our high value services to our clients.

You will engage with developers and articulate how they may capitalise on the economics of local generation, demand side response and storage.

Working alongside a strong leadership team, you will be particularly dedicated to support project delivery of the assignments of the team, ensuring a high-quality delivery for our clients through high technical expertise, supporting junior members and expanding the team expertise.

Minimum Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience within the energy sector, ideally with modelling energy systems
  • Strong understanding of carbon accounting methodologies, such as the GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, or equivalent standards.
  • Understanding of energy markets
  • Understanding of the different ownership and operation models available for energy systems
  • The ability to clearly articulate often complex subject areas

They will also:

  • Be a competent pair of hands for our clients
  • Support team development
  • Ensure the standards of work and information provided to clients remains high.
  • Help develop the team’s capability and knowledge in energy systems and industry.
  • Help engage developers by presenting the complexity of energy systems in the built environment.

Additionally, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Technical application and operational standards.
  • Service quality and professional reputation.
  • Managing project finances (with support from others)
  • Adherence to the firms QM, H&S and Environmental standards.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Good understanding of and demonstratable competencies with energy systems modelling, including but not limited to low carbon generations technologies, district energy systems, energy storage systems, EV charging hubs, energy markets and demand forecasting.
  • Experience with modelling software tools / platforms
  • Business case development for renewable energy and storage systems.
  • Experience in carbon accounting, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions such as the GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, CRREM reporting or Science Based Target initiatives would be helpful.
  • Technical and commercial understanding of the construction industry.
  • Relevant energy sector technical or finance qualifications.
  • Ideally advanced proficiency in Excel/PowerQuery with good practice of workbooks organisation and data management.
