Endoscopy Academy of Wales Endoscopy Senior Nurse Lead

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Endoscopy Senior Nurse Lead for the Endoscopy Academy of Wales. The role will involve working with the Clinical Lead and Deputy Lead to make a central contribution to the development and delivery of high-quality training programs for the NHS Wales Endoscopy workforce. They will also lead the Endoscopy Academy support staff. This post represents a unique opportunity for someone with experience of working in the field of endoscopy, and with knowledge and experience of work-based learning and education, to shape the future of endoscopy training in Wales. The successful candidate will also be working alongside the Clinical Endoscopy Lead.

This post is being offered as a secondment opportunity only. If you wish to apply, you must have your line manager's approval before making an application. This post is for a fixed secondment period but may be extended or made permanent at the end of the secondment period depending on available funding and business requirement.

Main duties of the job

The Endoscopy Senior Nurse Lead will be central to delivery of the Endoscopy training program for the NHS Wales Endoscopy workforce. They will develop, deliver, and evaluate courses for nurses, HCSWs, leaders, managers, and administrative staff. Working as part of the Academy leadership team and leading a support staff team, they will develop and refine Academy governance, assure the quality of the Academy's work, and support the delivery of high-quality education and training across Wales. This support will include a logistical and operational component and will include travel to multiple sites across Wales. They will ensure the Endoscopy Academy operates within an effective program structure, governance, and monitoring system.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to represent the Endoscopy Academy of Wales at national forums, manage stakeholder relationships and communicate effectively with a range of partners. They will also represent the Academy at relevant groups and liaise with other endoscopy academies and the British Society of Gastroenterology, maintaining JAG accreditation status for the academy through submission of output, feedback, and impact analysis.

Qualifications and Knowledge
  • Educated to Masters degree level or equivalent.
  • Current Professional Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Experience in providing education and training.
  • Leadership qualification or experience.
  • Knowledge of Health and Social care policies in Wales.
  • Knowledge of Duty of Quality and healthcare regulation standards and processes.
  • JAG accredited Training The Trainer, JETS Workforce ENDO 1, ENDO 2, ENDO 3 trainer.
  • Project management office qualification (PRINCE2, MSP) or equivalent experience.
Experience
  • Demonstrable experience of working within the Endoscopy/ gastroenterology environment at Band 7 or above.
  • Experience at managing complex Endoscopic procedure conditions.
  • Experience of teaching on and providing content for training programmes with a blended approach to learning in clinical/ non-clinical environments.
  • Experience of supervising and assessing practice in an inter-professional practice environment.
  • Understanding of JAG requirements and process.
  • Experience in developing policies and procedures.
  • Experience of leading and developing staff.
  • Experience of effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience of successfully managing a team.
  • Up to date with current gastroenterology and treatment options offered within NHS Wales.
  • Knowledge/ experience of education development and commissioning.
