Job description

Your new company

A leading AI business is seeking a highly motivated and experienced EMEA Financial Controller to lead our accounting teams in France and the Netherlands. This is a pivotal role where you'll have the opportunity to shape their financial operations in key European markets, drive process improvements, and contribute to our continued global success. You'll be responsible for the full accounting cycle for these entities, ensuring compliance and accuracy while supporting broader EMEA initiatives and reporting directly to the Senior Director, EMEA Accounting.

Your new role

  1. Manage and mentor the accounting team in France and the Netherlands, fostering a collaborative and efficient environment.
  2. Oversee the timely and accurate monthly accounting close for assigned entities, ensuring adherence to US GAAP and local accounting standards. This includes reviewing journal entries, flux analysis, and account reconciliations.
  3. Manage US GAAP and local GAAP audits and annual filings, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  4. Collaborate closely with the Dataiku Tax Team to support timely tax, statutory, and local filings, coordinating with external providers.
  5. Oversee the creation and maintenance of accounting schedules, reconciliations, and roll-forwards to enhance our control environment.
  6. Foster excellent working relationships with accounting teams across EMEA, AMER, and APJ.
  7. Support the EMEA Senior Director of Accounting with special projects and workflow process improvements, including legal entity expansion initiatives.
  8. Participate in system implementations (e.g., FloQast) and lead efforts to standardise and synchronise key accounting processes (e.g., payroll and balance sheet reconciliations, US to local GAAP bridges).
  9. Support the implementation of SOX controls across both Finance and Payroll.
  10. Collaborate with the EMEA Accounting Team to synchronise and optimise task timing for a more efficient month-end and year-end close.

What you'll need to succeed

  1. Qualified Accountant or equivalent with a strong foundation in accounting and tax.
  2. 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including proven leadership within a multinational organisation.
  3. In-depth knowledge of US GAAP.
  4. Strong understanding of internal controls and SOX requirements.
  5. Demonstrated experience in leading and managing teams.
  6. Familiarity with NetSuite.
  7. Experience with EMEA payroll accounting.
  8. Experience in new system implementations.
