Embassy Summer, under its parent company EC English, offers award-winning summer vacation programmes for young people across multiple locations in the UK, USA, Canada, Malta, UAE & South Africa. Position Summary:

Teachers facilitate the development of the Life Skills and Academic Skills of the students by engaging the students in conversation and providing feedback that helps them develop their communicative skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.
  2. Teaching the Embassy Summer lesson.
  3. Delivering engaging lessons that encourage students to actively participate.
  4. Providing feedback that facilitates the development of communication skills.
  5. Maximising student satisfaction by ensuring their experience meets or exceeds their expectations.
  6. Playing an active role in the development of students' life skills throughout their Embassy Summer experience.

Specific duties include:
  1. To teach the Embassy Summer lesson.
  2. To manage the classroom appropriately.
  3. To monitor student welfare and report any concerns immediately.
  4. To attend daily lesson preparation sessions.
  5. To act on feedback from observations.
  6. To attend at least one weekly workshop.
  7. To complete academic administration in a timely manner.
  8. To attend all relevant meetings.
  9. To lead activities if requested to do so.
  10. To carry out residential supervision duties, including meal and bedtime supervision (Where applicable).
  11. To carry out other duties necessary for the smooth running of the centre as required.

Organisational Compliance:

The job holder will be expected to operate in accordance with the company’s Code of Conduct, and any local policies and operating procedures relating to academic, welfare, and safeguarding matters.

Employees are required to cooperate fully with all arrangements in place related to Health and Safety, which include implementation and compliance with control measures resultant from risk assessments and engagement with, and completion of, any relevant Health and Safety training.
Education Required:
  1. To have completed or be studying a level 6 qualification or above (e.g., Degree level).
  2. To have completed a TEFL course (minimum 120 hours input).
  3. To complete a 4-hour summer teaching induction.

Education Desired:
  1. CELTA, Trinity ESOL.
  2. Educated to Degree Level or equivalent (Level 6 Qualifications and Credit Framework).

Essential criteria:
  1. Desire to work in education/learning.
  2. Enthusiasm to learn and deliver lessons that motivate and engage teenage learners.

Desired criteria:
  1. Experience of working with people.
  2. Experience of working in a residential environment.

Personal Attributes:
  1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  2. Interested in developing teaching skills.
  3. Ability to motivate, engage, and inspire students.
  4. Demonstrates the ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
  5. Responds well to a challenge.

Working week:
  1. 5 days.
  2. 42 hours (inclusive of 30 contact teaching hours plus preparation).
  3. (15 contact teaching hours per week if on a half-day teaching schedule + activities).

Remuneration based on 42 hours per week:

Basic salary up to: £609.00

Holiday pay: £73.51

Gross pay: £682.51

FULL BOARD ACCOMMODATION INCLUDED

NON-RESIDENTIAL OPTION AVAILABLE:

Remuneration based on 34 hours per week:

£20.00 per hour
