ROLE: Electronic Repair Technician LOCATION: Gloucestershire SALARY: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Electronic Repair Technician to join a growing engineering and production team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in electronic assembly, diagnostics, and repair—particularly at the PCB level. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing electronic assemblies and components to a high standard. Supervisory experience is desirable, as there may be opportunities to support and guide junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, repair, and test electronic components, PCBs, and full product assemblies
Carry out fault-finding to component level using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators
Perform PCB repairs, including component removal, rework, and surface mount soldering
Assemble and wire electrical and electronic units according to engineering drawings and technical instructions
Complete rework and upgrades on returned or defective units
Maintain accurate records of repairs, tests, and part replacements
Ensure all repairs are carried out to company and industry quality standards
Work closely with production and engineering teams to resolve technical issues
Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across the repair process
Key Requirements:
Proven experience in electronic assembly and repair, ideally in a production or service environment
Strong soldering skills (through-hole and surface mount)
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Familiarity with hand tools and electronic testing equipment
High attention to detail with a methodical approach to problem-solving
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team
Desirable:
Supervisory or team leader experience in a repair or assembly environment
Experience working to IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/7721)
Knowledge of ESD practices and safe handling of electronic components
Background in aerospace, defence, telecoms, or industrial electronics is a plus
