Electron Microscopy Technologist, University of Edinburgh

Location: University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom

The University of Edinburgh is looking for an Electron Microscopy Technologist to manage cellular electron microscopy services of the structural biology core facility. This facility has been established as part of a major Wellcome award to the Centre for Cell Biology and aims to provide imaging capabilities from atomic to cellular scale.

This position will lead in developing the cellular EM capabilities of the core and assist in the general operation of the electron microscopy resources including assisting with single-particle projects. EM equipment at Edinburgh includes a new ThermoFisher Glacios 2 with Selectris filter, a JEOL-1400 TEM and associated support equipment. We also have access to a cryo-capable Zeiss Crossbeam 550 FIB-SEM for cryo-ET applications and excellent light microscopy facilities.

This position is ideally suited to a PhD graduate with a passion for structural and cellular biology, who wishes to utilise cutting-edge methods in electron microscopy to enable a wide user base to solve challenging cellular problems. The position is available for three years with the possibility to extend.
