Role: Electromechanical Commissioning and Maintenance Engineer - Polar Cranes - Hinkley Point 'C' nuclear power station project
Location: Hinkley 'C' site near Bridgwater, Somerset (TA5 1UD)
Salary + Benefits: up to £75000 + overtime (equal to c20% on top of salary) + travel assistance / relocation assistance
Work Pattern: 10 days on / 4 days off
Start: February 2025 onwards
Our client, a well-renowned and highly-regarded international company specialising in the design and manufacture of large, high quality safety handling equipment for nuclear power plants, is looking for some highly-skilled Electromechanical Commissioning and Maintenance Engineers to support the installation, commissioning and preventative and corrective maintenance services of 2 x large polar cranes they are supplying that will be used during the build and subsequent operation of the new Hinkley ‘C' nuclear power station in Somerset.
The Polar Cranes is a heavy electromechanical rotating crane, extensively used during construction phase for handling activities into the reactor building. Later-on, during operation outages it is a critical system used for all the reactor building heavy lifting.
The client is thus looking for an experienced engineer (ideally Mechanical / Electro-Mechanical biased), with a proven background and experience related to preventive and corrective maintenance (troubleshooting) of electromechanical systems, preferably for cranes and handling equipment, though experience with other similar equipment will happily be considered.
This role will be based on the Hinkley 'C' site near Bridgwater, Somerset (TA5 1UD), working on a 10 day on / 4 day off basis. The client will consider assisting with travel expenses (up to £1200/month), or relocation expenses for candidates looking to relocate.
Whilst initially being involved with / responsible for the erection, operation and maintenance of the cranes at HPC, these are intended as a long-term positions, either remaining on the Hinkley 'C' power station during operation, or performing the same role on the future Sizewell ‘C' project, or other UK projects the client is involved with.
