Job description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of an Electrician, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £18.89 - £24.40 per Hour

Summary:

The Electrician will be responsible for providing high-quality electrical repairs, maintenance, and installation services across Southwark Councils housing and property stock. The role requires strong diagnostic skills, self-management, and the ability to ensure work is completed efficiently and to a high standard. The successful candidate will work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure tenant safety and satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Electrical Maintenance & Installation: Carry out electrical repairs, maintenance, and installation within council-managed properties. Ensure compliance with wiring regulations (BS 7671) and certification under NICEIC.
  • Customer Service & Resident Interaction: Work directly with tenants and stakeholders, providing clear communication regarding work to be carried out. Ensure a customer-focused approach, delivering a high standard of service.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to Health & Safety regulations, building codes, and fire safety guidelines. Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Vehicle & Tool Management: Responsible for the security, maintenance, and use of allocated vehicles and tools. Ensure materials, equipment, and stock are properly managed to support efficient service delivery.
  • Supervision & Training: Provide mentoring and guidance to apprentices, trainees, and junior staff. Share specialist knowledge and support team development through coaching and training initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • C&G 2361 Part 1 & 2 or Level 2 & 3 in Electrical Installations.
  • C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing certification.
  • C&G 2382 18th Edition certification.

Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in electrical repairs and installation within residential housing.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards, Health & Safety legislation, and building regulations.
  • Ability to work independently, make on-the-spot decisions, and manage workloads efficiently.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and responding to customer needs.
