Job description

EQUANS is looking for an Electrician on a permanent basis. This would be based in Heysham at Heysham Power Station working for our EDF contract. This would include working 37 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

Job Description:
To carry out Installation & maintenance routines unsupervised, diagnose and repair faults on electrical building services, electrical switch gear, domestic and industrial installations and PAT testing.

Technical Competence:

  1. Formal and recognised apprenticeship served in relevant skill area and have minimum of 4 years relevant and practical experience within building services.
  2. Awareness of risk assessment and working safely with electronic test equipment.
  3. Able to service and fault find on both conventional and Bespoke installations.
  4. Ability to follow work instructions, read/ interpret technical diagrams and report technical information as required.
  5. Electrical Installation both domestic and industrial.
  6. Electrical fault finding & rectification skills.

Industry Qualifications:

  1. Electrical City & Guilds NVQ Level III or an ONC is a minimum requirement (Mandatory).
  2. JIB Accredited electrician (Desirable).
  3. C&G 2382 18th Edition (Mandatory).
  4. C&G 2360 Electrical Installation (Desirable).
  5. C&G 2391 Testing and commissioning (Mandatory).

Equans / EDF Training Requirements:
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake the following training:

  1. Equans Induction (Mandatory).
  2. Equans Manual Handling (Mandatory).
  3. EDF - Safe Unescorted Access to Site (Site Specific) (Mandatory).
  4. EDF - Entry into Radiation and Contamination Controlled Areas (EIRCA & EICCA) (Mandatory).
  5. EDF - Generic Dressing / Undressing for CCA (DUCCA) (Mandatory).
  6. EDF - Fire Prevention (Mandatory).
  7. EDF - Competent Person E&M (Mandatory).
  8. EDF - Foreign Materials Exclusion (Mandatory).
  9. CCNSG.

There is also an expectation to undertake further training as requested in line with the clients and Equans operational requirements.

Accountabilities
Key Performance Indicators:
Planning & Organising

  1. Work with appropriate line supervisors to ensure that tasks are planned and delivered to client specification and agreed service requirements.
  2. Plan and prioritise work.
  3. Shows clear understanding of role objectives and responsibilities.
  4. Work schedules and projects are prioritised appropriately and delivered on time.
  5. An ability to work under pressure taking ownership of all delegated tasks ensuring that all work is of a high standard.

Operational Responsibilities

  1. Ensure compliance with statutory and company procedures, maintaining up to date knowledge of H/S and Environmental regulations.
  2. Provide out of hours cover where required.
  3. Complete relevant paperwork.
  4. Compliant with all safety related policies and procedures.
  5. Identification and reporting of areas and procedures that fail to meet expected standards (Safety, Technical and Environmental).
  6. Appropriate risk assessments undertaken on all work.
  7. Rectifies problems where appropriate (ensuring that the correct procedures are followed).
  8. All paperwork completed (permits, reports and work order cards) is accurate and submitted within set time scales.

Teamwork

  1. Establish good working relationships with other team members, provide guidance to others (e.g., apprentices).
  2. Willingly contribute to the overall team and company objectives, responding quickly to new directives.
  3. Delivers/Contributes to pre-job briefs, exchanging ideas and putting forward suggestions to improve team performance.
  4. Positive feedback from other team members.
  5. Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels in a clear and concise manner. Interacting positively with the client and their representatives, proactively sharing information with others.

Health & Safety

  1. Reads and understands the relevant generic Risk Assessment.
  2. Completes Point of work Risk Assessment.
  3. Ensures appropriate PPE is worn/used and is good working order.
  4. Ensures work area is protected using appropriate barriers/signs.
  5. Ensures full training has been received for each aspect of the job.
  6. Ensures work area is left safe on completion of the job.
  7. Uses appropriate access equipment where necessary.
