Studies, Tendering and Tech Advisory Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide technical support to front-line Sales and Sales Opportunities including Major Pursuits. This position is in the Technical Advisory Team of Process Automation, Energy Industries and reports to the Studies Tendering and Technical Advisory Manager. The work model for the role is hybrid from our St Neots, Daresbury, or Aberdeen locations.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  1. Taking customer RFQ/concepts and developing electrical solutions utilizing ABB and 3rd party products and systems.
  2. Closely collaborating between sales manager, bid manager, operations team, other HUB LBLs and/or other BLs, to deliver compliant and quality bids.
  3. Managing client relationships and presenting technical details according to the audience, simplifying technical details for non-technical personnel.
  4. Balancing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks while effectively engaging with the wider team to alleviate conflicting priorities.
  5. Directing supply chain to optimize and improve discounts provided by internal ABBs and third-party companies on materials.
  6. Delivering your technical knowledge and ABB capabilities to key customers including end users and EPCs, accompanying front-end Sales personnel.
  7. Maintaining key customer relationships (End Users and EPCs).
  8. Generating and reviewing Electrical Scopes of Supply in compliance with Clients’ RFQs.
  9. Producing and reviewing engineering hours estimates.
  10. Providing thought leadership in the delivery and execution methodologies of Electrical opportunities and project delivery.
Qualifications for the role
  • Knowledge of electrical equipment from generation to distribution (HV, MV, LV, UPS, Power Transformers, SCADA, Electrical Control System etc.).
  • High voltage up to 400kV experience.
  • Ability to read/create electrical system modelling in ETAP/Powerfactory.
  • Experience in creating substation/E-house/Modular LER layouts.
  • Able to interpret HVAC, Fire and Gas detection, Fire Suppression, Cabling and Civil requirements.
  • Awareness of integration requirements of an electrical system with control system and telecoms system.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems/Cable calculations desirable, but not mandatory.
  • Understanding of operations and maintenance aspects of solutions with respect to OPEX estimation is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills in both oral and written English.
  • Capable of presenting to internal and external management/expertise.
  • Capable of building good working relationships within internal and external teams and with individuals.
