Electrical Systems Engineer

We are looking for an Electrical Systems Engineer for a 12 months contract based in Derby Hybrid on behalf of our globally respected client who develops cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs.

Purpose of the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Systems Engineer to join our growing team, working on a technology development programme for a more-electric power and propulsion platform in advance of a New Product Introduction programme.

What you will be doing:

1. Leadership: Technical leadership for electrical distribution technology program, including but not limited to coaching junior engineers, project management, stakeholder management, technical leadership.
2. Strategy: Identifying, developing, and implementing innovative technology solutions in the areas of electrical distribution. Develop clear, comprehensive technology specifications and performance requirements with input as necessary from mechanical, electrical and systems teams as well as partners and suppliers as appropriate.
3. Project Definition: Leads the definition of electrical distribution technology including capturing requirements, creating proposals, achieving stakeholder approval, acquiring funding, and aligning partner support.
4. Capability Development: Lead the development of standard guidance and best practices with respect to novel electrical distribution technology.
5. Collaboration: Proactively accesses internal and external networks of fellow specialists to further the understanding of the specialist subject; supports the implementation of strategic collaborative relationships.

What we require from the candidate:

1. Professionally qualified Engineer (UK minimum BEng degree or other national equivalent, higher degree preferred) with a background in aerospace electrical systems.
2. Experience designing electrical power systems including some of the following: electrical distribution, conversion, cabling requirements, earthing, and protection.
3. Experience of protection and control of electrical power systems in aerospace environment.
4. Experience of developing, implementing and validating novel electrical distribution system technology such as arc fault protection, partial discharge management, and HVDC contactors.
