Job description

Our client requires an experienced Electrical SMSTS Manager to assist on an energy/power project in Romford.


Scope of Works: Electrical works including, fixing of cable containment (ladder) to structural steel and fabric of building, cable installation and EV Charging infrastructure fixed to floor and walls.


Role Expectations:

  1. Site Inductions: Carry out site induction presentations and record attendances for all operatives and visitors to site.
  2. Main Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS): RAMS to be reviewed and signed onto by any new operatives on-site and reviewed with contractors following any movement of work areas or scope of work changes.
  3. Point of Works Risk Assessments (POWRA): To be completed at the start of each day before any work commences; all operatives to sign and document to be dated/filed in site H+S folder.
  4. PPC including contacts: New operatives contact details to be added to the project contact directory as and when required as part of the induction process.
  5. Signing in book: Site manager to ensure all operatives sign in and out each day; he must also ensure operatives do not sign in/out on anyone's behalf.
  6. Site Diary: To be completed by site manager at end of each day or start of following day if not on-site; must record works progress, deliveries, near misses raised etc.
  7. Site Safety Audits: To be completed and recorded regularly, minimum of 3 each week. Any actions must be raised with the PM.
  8. Near Miss and Incident Reports: To be completed and recorded regularly. Any actions must be raised with the PM.
  9. PPE Checks: Spot checks required to ensure operatives are wearing correct PPE to the works activity as identified by RAMS and site rules. 1 strike from any operative should result in a toolbox talk covering the reasons why PPE is required. 2nd strike should be a final warning with the 3rd strike resulting in temporary suspension from site for the rest of that day with readmittance to site for the operative left at discretion. Any returning operative would need to be re-inducted and any further breaches resulting in permanent suspension from all sites.
  10. Latest Programme and Resources: Weekly catch up call with Project Manager and Project Engineer required to run through programme and resources. This could also be done on any site visits by a representative. Any early warning delays to be raised as soon as possible with the PM.
  11. Safety Concerns: Site manager to be added to WhatsApp group and any concerns should be raised to PM immediately if it can't be rectified immediately (additional barriers/signage needed etc.). Near miss/incident recording is strongly encouraged; a blank booklet will also be available on-site for recording. Forms can be filled out and photo evidence sent to the PM for electronic recording.
  12. Quality Concerns: Site manager should have regular walk arounds to inspect works in progress and completed works and be confident to raise any concerns with the PM. This can be shared via photos on WhatsApp or email if required to provide context.
  13. Weekly Report: To be completed and sent to PM for review each Thursday; this will include tallies on safety audits, near misses etc. and should be sent with progress photos from the week.

Essential Requirements:

  1. SMSTS
  2. CSCS
  3. First Aid

Candidates applying for this role must have extensive electrical experience. Those without will not be considered.
