Job description

Electrical Maintenance Manager

The Opportunity:

The Maintenance Manager must also be a fully qualified Electrician in order to fulfill the needs of this hands-on managerial position. You will be responsible for 6 Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineers within a busy manufacturing facility, and your Electrical skills and qualifications will be called upon to fulfill the hands-on nature of the role. But this will only be for about 20% of your time, the rest will be very focused on ensuring the continuous, efficient, and safe operation of all manufacturing equipment through proactive maintenance strategies, effective team leadership, and timely resolution of technical issues, minimizing downtime and maximizing production output.

The Role:

  1. Effectively lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5 maintenance engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  2. Schedule and allocate work assignments, ensuring optimal resource utilization and timely completion of tasks.
  3. Promote a safe working environment and ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations.
  4. Manage team rotas to provide 24/7 on-call support as required.
  5. Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all manufacturing equipment, including electrical systems.
  6. Oversee and manage reactive maintenance activities, prioritizing urgent repairs to minimize production downtime.
  7. Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends, predict potential failures, and implement proactive solutions.
  8. Manage and maintain accurate maintenance records, including work orders, parts inventory, and equipment history.
  9. Utilize your Electrical qualifications and experience to provide expert technical guidance and troubleshooting support for complex electrical systems, including control panels, power distribution, and automation systems.
  10. Diagnose and resolve complex electrical faults, using advanced testing equipment and techniques.
  11. Oversee the installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment, ensuring proper integration with existing systems.
  12. Assist with the planning and execution of new equipment installations and upgrades, ensuring seamless integration with existing production lines.
  13. Manage maintenance-related projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  14. Manage the inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels to support maintenance activities.

What you will bring to the Role:

  1. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, and safety standards - 18th Edition BS7671.
  2. Experience managing a maintenance team or the ability to demonstrate your desire and ability to do so in your next role.
  3. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
  4. Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail.
  5. Ability to read technical documents and schematics accurately.
  6. Experience within a manufacturing environment.
  7. High level of computer literacy.
  8. Project Management knowledge.
