I am working with a specialist business with a wide range of engineering operations including manufacturing, design, repair, service, installation, and supply. We are looking for an Electrician/Electrical Engineer to work hands-on alongside the Senior Electrical Engineer. The role will be varied and will involve Panel Building, Service, Maintenance, Installation, and Commissioning.

The company works in a variety of industries, so the work is always varied and interesting. It will suit those who are self-starters and problem solvers.

There will be a mix of workshop-based work and work at customer sites.

Working on manufacturing equipment, agricultural equipment, and MOD (Ships and Submarines), it is preferred that you have some experience in these areas, ideally in hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Layout and build electrical control panels, installation of cable management systems, cable tray, and conduit.
  • Carry out electrical builds, repairs, fault diagnosis, commissioning, and installations both in our workshop and on-site as required.
  • Read electrical drawings and technical diagrams to determine the layout of electrical wiring.
  • Test electrical control systems and components to ensure they are correctly configured.
  • Fault find electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using various diagnostic tools.
  • Test and document electrical aspects of hydraulic/pneumatic systems & compressors in the workshop and at customer sites.
  • Electrically install hydraulic/pneumatic systems at customers' premises as part of a team.
  • May be required to attend breakdowns at very short notice; some overtime and weekend working will be required.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience as an electrician or electrical engineer in a manufacturing/engineering environment.
  • Proficient in using power/hand tools for electrical work.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read schematics/technical drawings.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Must have held a UK driving licence for a minimum of three years.
  • An understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic drawings.
  • Factory maintenance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, regulations, and procedures:
  • Machinery directive.
  • Safety of Machinery.
  • ECS gold card Maintenance or installation electrician.
  • PLC control system knowledge; training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • 18th Edition.
