Electrical & Instrument Technician
Location: Crawley, West Sussex
Salary: Starting from £45,000 (DOE)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Are you an experienced Electrical & Instrument Technician looking to take ownership of your work in a safety-critical, process-driven environment?


We're working with a well-established and highly respected industrial business to recruit a hands-on Electrical & Instrument Technician for their large-scale site near Crawley. This is an exciting opportunity to become the go-to expert on site, supporting critical operations across a broad range of systems.


What You'll Be Doing:
  1. Leading inspections, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs across electrical and instrumentation systems.
  2. Conducting regular preventative maintenance and equipment testing to ensure optimal performance and compliance.
  3. Supporting the installation, wiring, and commissioning of new plant and machinery - improving operational efficiency.
  4. Keeping detailed records of all work including safety checks, repairs, upgrades, and maintenance history.
  5. Playing an active role in the site's reliability and safety culture, contributing to continuous improvement.

About You:
  1. Completed an apprenticeship or equivalent qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ, BTEC, ONC) in Electrical or Instrumentation.
  2. COMPEX certification (Hazardous Area Installations) is essential.
  3. Ideally 2+ years of experience in a maintenance or technician role, preferably on a chemically related or process plant.
  4. Comfortable making technical decisions under pressure while upholding strict safety standards.
  5. A team player with excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, hands-on attitude.
  6. Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices and awareness of control of major accident hazards (training provided if needed).
