Electrical Design Engineer (LV & HV)
Here's what you'll be doing

Permanent

Flexible base location (Coventry, Nottingham, Kingswinford)

We're looking for a talented and driven Electrical Design Engineer to become part of our growing team, supporting a rising number of Independent Connection Provider (ICP) projects nationwide. In this pivotal role, you'll design electrical networks ranging from Low Voltage (LV) up to 11kV and play a key part in ensuring timely and accurate submissions to network operators.

If you have experience working within an ICP, IDNO, or DNO environment, along with a strong understanding of industry standards and processes, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilise WinDebut or VisNet Design software to conduct comprehensive calculations for cable sizing, voltage drop, fault analysis, and earth loop impedance.
  • Specify high–quality equipment in alignment with the G81 policies of the DNO or IDNO for network extension designs to guarantee compliance.
  • Evaluate and implement effective substation earthing designs that enhance system safety and reliability.
  • Employ AutoCAD to develop precise design plans, layout drawings, and single–line diagrams that reflect the highest standards of engineering excellence.
  • Take initiative in instructing and monitoring project land rights to ensure all legal requirements are met seamlessly.
  • Deliver exceptional support to the Design and Construction teams, driving project success and operational efficiency.
  • Foster strong collaboration with project managers, clients, DNOs, IDNOs, and external stakeholders to ensure all design activities align with project goals.
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with existing and prospective clients, prioritising customer satisfaction and long–term partnerships.
  • Participate in client and internal meetings to share insights and drive project development.
  • Accurately record and process technical and design data, maintaining updated project trackers and internal business systems for optimal project management.
What we need from you
  • A minimum qualification of HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with DNO/IDNO design approvals, showcasing your ability to navigate and manage industry complexities with confidence.
  • In–depth knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, particularly the ENA Engineering Recommendation G81, and how they apply to electrical network design.
  • Experience working within an Independent Connection Provider (ICP) environment.
  • A solid understanding of ICP processes and requirements.
