Electrical Design Coordinator

Are you an ambitious Electrical Design Coordinator, lacking support and direction in your current role? Do you want to help take a business to the next level, and work within a well-established experienced team? Then look no further....

A regional award-winning M&E contractor, with a rich history of delivering incredible projects across East Anglia & London, is searching for an Electrical Design Coordinator. You will take responsibility for the development and completion of electrical services design documentation and manage the design process on multiple projects. Our client generally works on projects with a value of up to £15m. The Design Coordinator will ensure project documentation is complete, concise, in line with regulatory requirements and project budgets. You’ll work closely with external design consultants, architects, clients, main contractors, sub-contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.

Performance Objectives
  1. Establish and agree design programs with clients & design consultants.
  2. Monitor design progress against the agreed program and ensure documentation is completed on time.
  3. Directly engage with & manage internal design team and external design consultants.
  4. Review & critically appraise electrical services design documentation throughout the design process. Ensure all aspects of the design comply with the project brief, designs are coordinated, spatial fit is observed, and regulations are adhered to.
  5. Attend design coordination and design team meetings with the professional team. Set goals for meetings, clearly convey actions, and resolve design issues.
  6. Engage with sub-contractors to incorporate valuable design advice.
  7. Develop, issue, and track requests for information.
  8. Liaise with preconstruction teams to ensure project budgets are adhered to.
  9. Undertake electrical design to support Contract / Project Managers.
  10. Ensure coordinated working drawings are developed to allow installation to commence.
  11. Attend internal pre-contract meetings to present design documentation to contract teams and project managers upon contract award.
  12. Prepare reports required by the client and professional team. Respond to all correspondence/communications in writing recording key aspects.
Person Specification
  1. A detailed knowledge and understanding of the Building Services design process.
  2. Ability to use industry software including Amtech, Dialux & Autodesk Revit.
  3. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical services design within a consultancy practice.
  4. A proven capability to undertake design of all electrical services systems including power distribution, containment, lighting, emergency lighting, lighting controls, fire systems, security systems & earthing.
  5. A Building Services Engineering degree or be working towards a recognised qualification.
  6. A strong knowledge of working in 3D and a proven history of working on BIM level 2 projects including familiarity with BIM documentation and processes.
