Job Description

Do you have an environmental background? Do you have some experience in Health and Safety? Are you looking to work for a large company who will invest in you and your future? We are seeking a skilled Environmentally focused Health, and Safety (EHS) Advisor. The ideal candidate will be responsible for advising and assisting in the management of environmental, health, and safety responsibilities. This role requires a strong understanding of environmental compliance, sustainability, and health and safety best practices.

Responsibilities (some can be taught)
  1. Formalising and adding process and procedure to maintain ISO14001 accreditation.
  2. Acting as a key advisor for environmental and sustainability initiatives.
  3. Conducting internal training on EHS topics and maintaining training records.
  4. Managing the environmental management system to ISO14001 standards.
  5. Monitoring waste, energy, water, and emissions, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  6. Supporting internal HSE auditing, conducting audits, and recommending corrective actions.
  7. Conducting Duty of Care audits on environmental suppliers and maintaining records.
  8. Responding to customer and regulatory requests for environmental and sustainability data.
  9. Developing methods for carbon footprinting and monitoring Scope 1-3 emissions.
  10. Maintaining the environmental legal register to ensure compliance with legislation.
  11. Communicating environmental and sustainability initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
  12. Supporting the HSE Manager in implementing ISO 45001 to improve health and safety standards.
  13. Liaising with suppliers on environmental matters and promoting sustainability best practices.
Technical Skills and Capabilities:
  1. Degree educated in an environmental discipline (or equivalent professional qualification) with at least one year of experience in an environmental compliance role - not essential but desirable.
  2. Strong knowledge of ISO14001 principles and environmental management systems.
  3. Holding a NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification (desirable).
  4. ISO Internal Auditor training/experience is desirable.
  5. Ability to deliver training and provide clear guidance on environmental and health and safety matters.
  6. Membership with IEMA/IOSH is desirable.
