We are delighted to be retained by a private equity-backed, international consumer business at a pivotal stage in its growth journey, seeking a highly skilled and technically strong Group Financial Controller.
The company is a global leader, managing a diverse portfolio of premium assets, with operations spanning multiple jurisdictions and revenues exceeding £800m. With a strong focus on strategic expansion, operational efficiency, and financial excellence, the business is undergoing a significant transformation.
This role will be at the heart of that evolution, offering the right candidate the opportunity to lead, influence, and shape the finance function in a high-growth environment. This is a rare opportunity for a technically strong finance leader to play a crucial role in shaping the future of a fast-growing, international business.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the finance function, overseeing financial consolidation for entities across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Providing strategic financial insights and acting as a key partner to senior leadership and private equity stakeholders, confidently challenging assumptions and influencing decision-making.
- Managing and overseeing audit processes, ensuring full compliance with IFRS and other regulatory standards while driving efficiencies.
- Strengthening financial controls, processes, and reporting frameworks to enhance transparency and support the company’s growth strategy.
- Enhancing communication between Group Finance and Business Units, ensuring alignment, financial clarity, and robust decision-making.
- Driving continuous improvement in financial systems, controls, and reporting frameworks, optimising accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Managing financial risk and compliance, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements across all entities.
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional growth.
The Ideal Candidate
- ACA qualified (trained in practice), with a strong technical foundation in accounting and financial reporting.
- Extensive experience in group-level finance within international businesses, ideally those with complex financial structures and multi-entity consolidations.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale financial consolidations, handling the intricacies of high-growth and acquisitive organisations.
- Strong ability to challenge senior leadership, provide strategic financial insights, and support informed decision-making.
- Experience in a private equity-backed environment is advantageous but not essential; a solid understanding of the dynamics of PE-backed businesses is beneficial.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and influence at all levels.
