2024-2025 School Psychologist Opening

Summary: Provides psycho-educational services to students with disabilities within local public and nonpublic schools, assists with the development of plans which enable children to attain achievement standards and independent skills.

Qualifications, Education, and Licensure: The School Psychologist must be able to perform essential job functions and satisfactorily demonstrate the competencies for certified staff. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  1. Minimum of Master’s Degree in Educational or School Psychology with a successful school psychology internship.
  2. Hold and maintain current licensure as a School Psychologist in the State of Indiana.
  3. Possess a knowledge of Special Education laws/regulations and can follow developed procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Conducts diagnostic evaluations to identify students’ needs, potential, and limitations by:
  2. Observing in classrooms and/or in social situations.
  3. Reviewing all pertinent school records.
  4. Consulting with parents and school personnel.
  5. Administering diagnostic instruments.
  6. Interpreting assessment data.
  7. Collaborating with school staff on the development and writing of the IEP.
  8. Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary team for students undergoing an evaluation and coordinates resources to assure a comprehensive educational evaluation is completed.
  9. Participates on the intervention team(s) for at-risk students considered for an evaluation.
  10. Provides diagnostic information to assist pupils to achieve academic, social, and emotional growth.
  11. Utilizes research to aid in identifying appropriate techniques and services to meet student needs.
  12. Conducts reevaluations for children eligible for special education services.
  13. Provides ongoing professional development for school and community when requested.
  14. Serves as consultant to school principals, parents, and teachers in matters involving psychological services in the school and community.
  15. Completes all education reports and paperwork accurately according to regulations and procedures within the required time line.
  16. Collaborates with school personnel on Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) as needed.
  17. Completes Review of Records for out-of-state move-in special education students:
  18. Reviews IEP and psycho-educational evaluation.
  19. Establishes state of Indiana eligibility and suggests appropriate special education services.
  20. Serves as a resource and makes recommendations to school personnel pertaining to:
  21. The management of pupils in the school environment.
  22. Educational adjustments to meet the needs of children.
  23. Services of children in special education.
  24. Collaborates in the evaluation of academic and behavioral management programs using data to recommend interventions.
  25. Follows and informs others of IDEA and Article 7 rules and regulations as well as WRSSC Policies and Procedures.
  26. Attends all WRSSC diagnostic and district staff meetings as required.
  27. Performs other duties as assigned.
