Qualifications

Job description

My client is seeking a Private Client Lawyer to join their well-established and well-known office in Bristol.


The role will cover Probate, Trust and later life client work, including state administration, Wills, tax planning and Lasting Powers of Attorney.


The role

Some of the duties you can expect to carry out include:

  1. All aspects of private client work including probate, estate administration, Wills, tax planning, LPAs and trusts.
  2. Providing technical advice and support within the team.
  3. Keeping up to date with any changes in the law.
  4. Providing update training for all fee earners as and when relevant.
  5. Training of junior staff in conjunction with the Head of Department and Team Leaders.
  6. Conducting matters on behalf of clients in an appropriate and efficient manner.
  7. Giving expert, tailored advice to each client's needs.
  8. Some management and supervision of support services including departmental secretaries and paralegals as required.
  9. Participation in marketing and business development activities whether on a firm-wide, departmental or office basis.
  10. Financial control, including accurate time recording, collection of monies on account and billing procedures.
  11. Compliance with CPC requirements.
  12. Compliance with SAR, SRA Code of Conduct and Lexcel rules and requirements.
  13. Sharing of knowledge and ideas with colleagues in the department and firm-wide.

The ideal candidate

  1. Qualified Solicitor with 1+ PQE or a FCILEx with experience and interest in Wills, LPAs, Trusts, and estate and Trust Administration.
  2. Experience in Trust work and extensive knowledge of applicable taxes (including IHT, CGT and Income Tax).
  3. A STEP qualification, or willingness to study for it, would be desirable.
  4. Experience in managing a team would be an advantage.
