Reporting into the General Manager, we are looking for a fitness instructor to provide professional and friendly tuition, carrying out inductions and designing personalised fitness programmes within a retirement community. You will make sure that all leisure club users are kept in a safe and secure environment, delivering great customer service and ensuring the facilities are clean and safe so that every customer has a great experience.

Role Purpose

The role is responsible for maintaining the Leisure club and ensuring there is a varied and tailored class programme for customers with a strong focus on delivering exceptional service to both our customers – village Owners and paid leisure club members. It also has responsibility for both retaining and growing the memberships and promoting the club to both the owners and the wider community.

Principal Accountabilities And Responsibilities
  • Delivering a programme of fitness classes for the Leisure Club, specific to the needs of the members.
  • Providing PT Sessions to our club members.
  • Checking the safety of all equipment and pools.
  • Registering customers for classes.
  • Ensuring the club is ready for use in accordance with the fitness programme and opening times.
  • Maintaining all areas of the leisure club to the highest standard of hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Communicating with members to ensure their fitness plan is tailored to their needs.
  • Dealing with complaints and emergencies including administering first aid.
  • Person centered approach to build relationships with customers and ensure the programmes are tailored to the needs of the members and reviewed on a weekly and monthly basis to ensure fitness goals are being met.
  • To attend all training courses as advised by the line manager, ensuring you are compliant with all required mandatory training.
Key Skills & Requirements
  • Recognised fitness qualification, including Aqua fit is desirable.
  • Able to teach mixed ability workout classes of six, including pilates/body conditioning/exercise to music.
  • First Aid qualification is desirable.
  • Ability to maintain a high customer focus and high visibility within the Leisure Club, proactively maintaining the highest standard of customer care.
  • Strong understanding of fitness and health and how to adapt to people with varying needs.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively listen to member requirements, understand their needs and explain processes within the Leisure Club.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure that the club runs efficiently.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and on an individual basis.
