Job description

Are you passionate about inspiring young minds through the power of language and literature? Do you have the creativity and enthusiasm to make English come alive in the classroom? We are seeking a dedicated English teacher to join the team at a secondary school in Witham.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Teach English Language and Literature to secondary school students across various year groups.
  2. Create dynamic and engaging lesson plans that promote a deep understanding of the subject.
  3. Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and self-expression through a variety of teaching methods.
  4. Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and differentiate lessons to meet diverse learning needs.
  5. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel supported and valued.
  6. Collaborate with colleagues to develop the curriculum and contribute to department initiatives.
  7. Inspire students to reach their full potential.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialisation in English.
  2. Experience working within education.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  4. Ability to adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
  5. GCSE's or equivalent at grade C (Pass) or above.
  6. A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students' academic and emotional development.
  7. Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  8. A strong passion for teaching English and helping students develop their literacy skills.
