Commercial Apprentice

Gleeson Homes are recruiting for an Commercial Apprentice to assist the Regional Commercial and Buying team to support the regional and Group Business plan, commercial objectives, budgets and future growth requirements by being involved in commercial and procurement activity and associated Technical matters.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about working with colleagues within the region and across different disciplines with a keen attention to detail and accuracy, who is passionate about starting their commercial career within a national, award-winning home builder. The suitable person will be someone who wants to proactively contribute to our mission of changing lives, by building affordable, quality homes, where they are needed, for the people who need them the most.

As this role is a blend of the Quantity Surveying and the Procurement function, you will work with the Commercial Director, Managing QS, Senior QS, QS and Assistant, whilst also working with the Regional Buyer and the Assistant Buyer. You will work in tandem with the site teams, the subcontractors, suppliers and the offices, delivering the build program safely, and on time, in the most efficient way.

This role enables you to develop a wide range of administrative and professional skills, whilst embedding them in a real working environment. It will provide you with the toolkit for success in your career.

Main Responsibilities:

In this role you’ll be:

• Supporting the commercial and buying teams in both quantity surveying and procurement administration.
• Compiling reports and supporting in management, control and reporting of build costs, cash flows and budget financial information.
• Supporting managing the workshop partnerships with sub-contractors, housing associations and external partners, adding to the overall value of the regional function.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Grade 4/C or equivalent in Maths and English
• Extensive knowledge and application of Microsoft Office
• Good organisational skills
• Ability to work under own initiative and manage time effectively
• Flexible and adaptable to changing requirements
• Good verbal and written communication
• Numerical and literate

Generous holiday entitlement of 26 days per annum + bank holidays.
