Job description

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end execution of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive project plans with clear objectives, milestones, and deliverables. The Project Manager will lead and motivate cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and accountability while proactively managing project budgets and timelines to address any potential issues or delays.

Effective communication with key stakeholders, including clients and senior management, is essential to keep them informed of project status and performance. Additionally, the Project Manager will identify and mitigate risks, implementing contingency measures as needed. A continuous improvement mindset is crucial, as the role requires identifying opportunities to enhance processes and optimise project delivery.

This role requires a Project Manager who is experienced, highly motivated, engaging, flexible and resilient. You will have strong experience in delivering outcomes using traditional and agile project management methodologies and can demonstrate familiarity in delivering software-based projects through full software development lifecycle (SDLC). It is essential for you to have the ability to exercise sound judgment, identify and evaluate risks and to manage complex and sensitive issues. You will be able to demonstrate your ability in scheduling, risk management, resourcing, cost, and stakeholder management. You will have knowledge and experience in the application of project management planning, execution and monitoring in accordance with accepted project management standards in the industry e.g., Prince2 or PMBOK. You are adaptable and have the necessary interpersonal skills to lead, develop and mentor individuals and teams communicating complicated technical and non-technical information with clarity and confidence.

Qualifications:

1. Relevant tertiary level education in Project Management, Engineering, Business Administration or related field; or equivalent experience.
2. Advanced certifications in project management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent) is highly desirable.

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

1. A minimum of 7 years proven experience managing technology projects in complex, regulated, or high-impact environments across commercial, defence, government, infrastructure, finance, or other similar industries.
2. Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies is highly desirable.
3. Demonstrate understanding of best practice and lifecycle of Project Management. Knowledge and experience of Government procurement, finance, and reporting.
4. Utilises and tailors project management methodologies and tools to suit project needs. Implements and upholds effective project monitoring, control processes, change management, risk mitigation, and quality assurance practices.
5. Tracks and manages resources, revenue, and capital expenditures to ensure alignment with the project budget.
6. Motivation to lead a dynamic team supporting leading edge technology.
7. Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, or equivalent) and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint).
8. Understanding ASDEFCON contract management and execution expectations including project data and performance reporting.
9. Familiarity with technical concepts and terminology related to Electromagnetic Warfare and Spectrum Management.

To be considered, candidates will have:

1. Ideally you have proven experience working with projects within the Defence sector.
2. Have a proven track record of working across the life cycle of project management including scope, schedule, quality, risk and communication plans.
