Talent Acquisition Specialist - North Europe COE

We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Cloud, Storage & Data Centre Engineer, specialising in managing Data Centres, Cloud Environments, Enterprise SAN Storage, Hypervisors, Linux servers, BCDR Testing, Data Protection and Data Recovery. Our successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining the stability, uptime, security, and optimal performance of critical IT Systems. Your ability to collaborate with their colleagues in the CSDC team and other IT departments will contribute significantly to the success of IT projects and the overall efficiency of DP World’s Core Platforms environment.

You will work as part of the CSDC team to ensure all support requests you work on are logged in the ServiceDesk system. Monitor the ServiceDesk support queue for your function, ensuring all requests are managed within the IT Support SLA. To encourage growth within the team, assist more junior team members with ticket resolution as required, ensuring they fully understand the resolution to aid their learning and enhance their skill set.

Our ideal candidate will have extensive Linux knowledge and experience, including but not limited to admin, setup and building new Linux VMs. We need you to provide exceptional customer service and support to internal/external stakeholders and end-users, professionally and promptly addressing their inquiries and concerns.

Location: Remote working based in UK or Dublin with European Travel every two months for business requirements

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week + Paid on call rota (1 week in 5, 24/7)

How you will contribute
  • Support the DP World Cloud, Storage & Data Centre infrastructure as directed by the Senior Manager, Cloud, Storage & Data Centre
  • Manage the DPW EUR Data Centres, ensuring they are aligned with DPW Group Data Centre standards and can stand up to any internal or external audits.
  • Assist with the design of Data Centres ensuring no single points of failure to enable High Availability and comprehensive DR provision for all critical systems.
  • Ensure maximum availability of Data Centre and Cloud systems and minimum disruption due to change - planned or otherwise.
  • Deputise for the Senior Manager, Cloud, Storage and Data Centre as required.
  • Install, configure and manage Linux servers and software as required, using automation where possible.
  • Configure and manage Data Protection platforms including Commvault, Dell EMC Networker and Zerto.
  • Work closely with DBA, Network, Application, Systems and Service Desk teams on projects, migrations, upgrades, refreshes, architecture and other activities.
  • Carry out regular Disaster Recovery (DR) testing on key systems, including coordinating the resources to carry out the tests, proving out Recovery Point Objective(RPO), Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and ensuring DR procedures are up to date.
  • Ensure systems maintenance, support, installations, upgrades, performance monitoring, capacity planning, compute and storage management is carried out with minimum disruption to the operation teams.
  • Assess current and projected system performance then recommend and perform changes and enhancements.
  • Evaluate and run patches, service packs, upgrades while ensuring all dependencies including site downtime approval and change approval are checked and signed off in advance.
  • Maintain documentation and diagrams to describe all systems, networks and communications.
  • Maintain documentation on changes in work practices. Keep the IT Knowledgebase up to date with current procedures.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota as required.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in Data Centre, SAN Storage, Cloud, Linux compute and related technology.
  • Evaluate and recommend new infrastructure technologies, both on-premise and in the Cloud.
What You Will Bring

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a combination of equivalent professional training and certifications, combined with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Cloud, Storage and Data Centre Engineering.

EXPERIENCE

  • In depth Data Centre and Cloud based technology experience.
  • Can lead IT Projects, engage stakeholders, define project tasks, set deadlines, highlight any critical path items, details risks and hold regular project meetings to ensure progress against tasks to committed deadline and keep people accountable.
  • Highly organized and able to work to a deadline. Requires the ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects requests at the same time and engage team members on a technical level, while effectively communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical people.
  • Experience working Hypervisors including VMware and Oracle Linux VM
  • Experience of VMware and SAN Storage Metro Clusters
  • Knowledge of SAN Storage Systems, Fibre Channel Switches, San Zoning, IP based Storage.
  • In-depth experience of working in environments that include Red Hat Linux, Oracle Linux, MS Azure and other cloud technologies.
  • Strong experience working with Data Protection Software such as Commvault, Dell EMC Networker and Zerto
  • Very strong technical background with proven in-depth analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of working with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Grafana, Grey log
  • Working knowledge of Ansible, Kickstart installation process, Shell scripting and other Open Source software that supports the Linux OS.
  • Experience following ITIL based Change Management and Problem Management processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and manage risk for critical business systems.
  • Ability to write, present and explain complex concepts to non-technical people with a clear, transparent and open approach to communicating your ideas.
