Job Reference: (f5ed4bce) Support is required to enable a 5-year-old boy who has a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to access age-appropriate leisure activities in the local community.

Time may also be used at times in the family home to read stories together, watch favorite movies, participate in role play, and play games. Support with prompts to keep hydrated.

Main Duties:

1. Support required to access age-appropriate activities in and around the local community, including swimming, walks, drives, music, singing, dancing, drawing, and coloring.
2. Anticipate the child’s needs, as he has limited verbal communication.
3. Provide support with personal care, toileting, social stimulation, and progressive levels of activity.
4. Assist the child in building relationships with peers within his wider community.

The child does not like change and follows a routine with meals and bedtime.

Personal Specification:

1. Experience in health & social care desirable.
2. Genuine interest in working with children with complex needs.
3. Positive understanding towards children with disabilities.
4. Ability to both take instructions and use own initiative.
5. Respect confidentiality.
6. Punctual, honest, reliable, with a caring nature, as the child cannot be left unsupervised.

Rate of Pay: £13.09

Hours: 4 hours a week (52 weeks) and an additional 4 hours during all school holidays (13 weeks).

Training: Where required, training in Health and Safety, practical training and guidance around stoma and leg care, medication & moving and handling will be arranged, and the care worker will be expected to attend.
